"(NaturalNews) The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today stands accused of taking part in the kidnapping and illegal extradition of a permanent resident of Ecuador, in violation of both international law and Ecuadorian law.
Greg Caton, owner and operator of Alpha Omega Labs ( www.AltCancer.com ), an herbal products company that sells anti-cancer herbal remedies made with Ecuadorian medicinal herbs, was arrested at gunpoint at a road checkpoint in Ecuador, then transported to an Ecuadorian holding facility to await a hearing on December 14, 2009.
Greg Caton was expected to be set free by the Ecuadorian judge at that hearing based on the facts of the case which indicated Caton's permanent residency in Ecuador is legal and valid.
Three days before the hearing could take place, Greg Caton was taken from his holding facility and, with the help of U.S. State Department employees, involuntarily placed on an American Airlines plane headed for Miami.
An Ecuadorian judge rushed to the airport in Guayaquil and demanded that Caton be released from the plane, stating that the attempted deportation was illegal, but American Airlines employees reportedly refused to allow Caton to leave the plane, stating that the plane was "U.S. territory" and that Ecuadorian law did not apply there (even though the plane was still on the tarmac in Guayaquil and under the direction of the air traffic control tower there).
The plane then departed Guayaquil and continued its flight to Miami where Greg Caton was held in a federal detention facility to await trial in the U.S.
His crimes?
Selling herbal medicine and
daring to tell the truth
about those medicines on his website.
FDA vs. Greg Caton
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has, for many years, pursued Caton, accusing him of selling "unapproved drugs" -- herbal medicines that have never been, and will never be, approved by the FDA to treat anything.
He was convicted of these crimes in 2003
and served 33 months in federal prison.
After serving his term, Caton was on probation for another three years.
As Greg Caton's wife explained to me in an exclusive interview, eighteen months into that probation, Caton received word that a "rogue FDA agent" named John Armand was intimidating his ex-employees in an attempt to convince them to testify against Caton in order to have him convicted of further charges that would lead to more prison time.
After submitting a request to his presiding judge to ask that the remainder of his probation be excused, Caton moved to Ecuador and acquired permanent residency there, in part to escape persecution by what he saw as a rogue FDA agent violating the law in an effort to see Caton prosecuted yet again.
As you'll see below, this fear was not unfounded.
Selling anti-cancer herbs is no crime in Ecuador
In Ecuador, by the way, selling herbs and accurately describing
their medicinal properties is not a crime. It's common sense.
Every pharmacy, health food store, shaman and medicine man openly talks about the anti-cancer properties of various herbs. No one goes to prison for selling medicinal herbs in Ecuador -- the very idea seems silly.
Why would any nation want to lock up its healers?
So the "crimes" for which Caton was convicted in the USA aren't even considered crimes in more medicinally enlightened countries such as Ecuador. There, people like Caton are considered valuable members of society.
Back in the U.S., the only real crime Caton was now guilty of was failing to serve his last 18 months of probation. But even that probation sentence was based on the false crime of Caton selling medicinal herbs while accurately describing their health-related properties. In other words, if not for the FDA's persecution of all herbalists who sell anti-cancer herbs, Caton would never have had jail time nor probation to begin with.
The FDA invokes Interpol
When the FDA realized Greg Caton had moved to Ecuador, they went to work to try to have Caton arrested internationally. In order to accomplish this, they needed to have Greg Caton listed as a wanted fugitive with Interpol, the international police database headquartered in Lyon, France.
Interpol is normally reserved for listing serious criminals: Murderers, rapists, terrorists, international money launderers, war criminals and the like. NaturalNews contacted Interpol to inquire as to how Gregory Caton, an herbal formulator violating nothing more than probation, could have been listed with Interpol as a wanted international fugitive with a so-called "Red Notice" -- Interpol's highest alert level.
This is the kind of alert level someone l
ike Osama Bin Laden might normally merit with Interpol.
We were told by the U.S. Interpol office (under the DOJ), "those individuals placed on a Most Wanted List are the ones who have allegedly committed the most heinous of crimes for a very long period of time."
In other words, the Interpol "Red Notice" designation -- which was applied to Greg Caton's listing -- is never applied to people who merely skip probation. The Greg Caton listing with Interpol, NaturalNews learned, was off protocol.
Someone, it seemed, had managed to exploit the DOJ / Interpol system to get Caton listed as an international fugitive when he was merely guilty of skipping out on the last 18 months of his probation.
Exaggerating the information with Interpol
To make the Interpol listing sound more serious, paperwork was submitted to Interpol decision makers that listed Caton's offenses as "drugs related crimes, fraud."
This implies that Caton was engaged in some sort of serious drug operation: Drug smuggling, perhaps, or drug dealing. In reality, his only crime was selling medicinal herbs that the FDA mislabels "drugs" in its own bizarre regulatory language -- the same language that calls cherries "drugs" if they are sold alongside any words describing their benefits for relieving arthritis pain and inflammation.
To the FDA, even a bottle of water can be considered a "drug" if it's sold with the claim that it prevents dehydration, a medical condition.
The obvious question in all this, then, is: Who could have managed to exploit the Interpol system and get Greg Caton listed as an international fugitive?
Clues lead back to the FDA's Office of Criminal Investigation
The clue comes right from the Interpol listing itself,
where it describes the origin of the "arrest warrant" as Lafayette, Louisiana.
You can see the Interpol listing here:
http://www.interpol.int/public/data...
Lafayette, Louisiana is the former operating base of FDA criminal investigations officer John Armand, the agent who went after Caton in 1999 and who managed to get him convicted of a felony crime (selling medicinal herbs) in 2003.
NaturalNews attempted to contact John Armand to get his comments for this story. I called the FDA office in Lafayette, Louisiana, identified myself as a reporter for NaturalNews, and asked to speak with agent John Armand. I was told he had been relocated to Florida and could now be reached out of the Jacksonville office.
I called the FDA's Jacksonville office, identified myself and asked to speak with agent John Armand for his comments on this story. I was told that I must first speak to a "press officer" of the FDA, as only a press officer could offer public comment. The next day, I was able to reach FDA press officer Mike Kelly whose reply mirrors FDA official policy: "No comment."
The FDA, he explained, never comments on any "ongoing investigation." In all, I placed five phone calls to various offices of the FDA, each time asking to speak with John Armand to get his side of this story. In every case, I was stonewalled and either told to talk to someone else or given the "no comment" reply.
Recap
Just to make sure you're following the twisted details of this story, here's a quick recap:
Greg Caton, a U.S. citizen and legal Ecuadorian permanent resident operating a legal Ecuadorian business selling medicinal herbs to customers around the world, was arrested at a road checkpoint in Ecuador. A few days later, against the demands of an Ecuadorian judge, he was involuntarily placed onto an American Airlines commercial jet where he was flown to Miami and put in a federal holding facility.
As Cathryn Caton told me in a recent interview, "I blame American Airlines as much as I do the U.S. To me, they are part of this illegal kidnapping... to me it's a terrorist act. They helped and cooperated with illegally kidnapping my husband and flying him to the U.S. They were told repeatedly by this Ecuadorian federal judge that he is not to leave the country, and they cooperated with these U.S. officials to illegally remove Greg from the country, against Ecuadorian court order."
His arrest in Ecuador was made possible by the "Red Notice" listing with Interpol. That listing was submitted through the United States National Central Bureau (USNCB), under the DOJ (Department of Justice), and it was submitted to the USNCB by the FDA. Within the FDA, the source for the listing was the Lafayette office, where agent John Armand operated.
The "Red Notice" listing, however, was off-protocol because Greg Caton was only guilty of skipping out on probation, not engaging in the kind of "heinous crimes" normally required to achieve a Red Notice listing with Interpol, which is normally reserved for terrorists, mass murderers and war criminals.
The Interpol listing was the key to getting Greg Caton arrested and illegally deported from Ecuador, without the U.S. engaging in any sort of formal extradition process as required by international law. In essence, the United States of America kidnapped Greg Caton, denied him his civil liberties under Ecuadorian law (and even perhaps under U.S. law), and illegally transported him out of Ecuador against the demands of an Ecuadorian judge.
This entire charade was masterminded by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which managed to trick Interpol into flagging Caton with a "Red Notice" status even though his only outstanding crime was skipping out on probation to go seek a life of peace in a nation that welcomed his medicines instead of criminalizing them.
Does Cansema work?
Greg Caton's top-selling anti-cancer formulation is called Cansema, and it is sold by Alpha Omega Labs as an effective herbal treatment for topical cancers.
If you have skin cancer of any kind, I encourage you to learn about Cansema and how it has eliminated cancers in many people. Even though Greg is now imprisoned in the U.S., Alpha Omega Labs is still open for business, and you can purchase Cansema online right now at www.AltCancer.com (note: NaturalNews has no financial relationship whatsoever with Alpha Omega Labs or Greg Caton).
Behind all the accusations, prosecutions and legal entanglements, the real question in all this seems to have been entirely avoided by U.S. health authorities. That question is, of course, does Cansema work? Does it really eliminate topical cancers?
If it works, then why all the criminal accusations against Greg Caton in the first place? Why the absurd labeling of his herbal products as "unapproved drugs" when even Caton himself doesn't call them drugs? He simply (and accurately) describes them as medicinal herbs, which is what they are. I find it fascinating that if I place a bottle of Cansema in my pocket when I board a plane in Ecuador, it's just "herbs," but when I exit the plane in Miami, suddenly those herbs have been transformed into "unapproved drugs" by the regulatory language police who operate in the U.S. much like the Ministry of Truth from George Orwell's novel 1984.
Regardless of what the product is called, the FDA isn't at all interested in whether Cansema actually works. The mere fact that the herbs were sold as a natural cancer treatment without FDA approval is enough to have Caton condemned as an international criminal. But in taking this stance, the FDA misses out on the thousands of satisfied customers who have successfully used Cansema to cure their own cancers.
Case in point: Dr. Brian O'Leary, a former NASA astronaut who has published over 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed science literature ( http://www.brianoleary.info/about.html ). Dr. O'Leary is a customer of Greg Caton's. When he heard about Caton's illegal arrest and deportation from Ecuador, he issued this passionate statement:
Statement from Dr. Brian O'Leary
Greg Caton is a friend of mine and an extraordinary healer. I was shocked to hear about his kidnapping and illegal deportation to the U.S., regardless of perceptions of his legal status within the U.S., something I understand to be a mild violation at most. He is a legal resident of Ecuador and conducts a legal alternative health product [company] here. I thoroughly support his work in healing untold thousands of people of cancer and other serious diseases.
My own healing happened when Greg arrived at our home two years ago with his product Cansema. I had just been diagnosed with basal cell skin cancer after a biopsy had been taken from a very large and deep lesion on my back. I was scheduled for surgery the following week. I cancelled the surgery and applied the Cansema (a black salve consisting of a mixture of herbs and a bit of zinc chloride), and, in 3-4 weeks, a black scab formed that subsequently fell off. After three applications of the salve over 2-3 months, the cancer disappeared, leaving only a slight discoloration where the cancer had been.
An examination by a dermatologist at the St. Agustin clinic in Loja, Ecuador, showed that the cancer was completely gone. No new lesions have formed anywhere on my body, and diagnostic blood tests for any systemic cancers recently showed negatives, i.e., no cancer in my body.
On the larger issue of the suppression of alternative possibilities in the health, environmental and technology fields, we see a pattern emerging that the true geniuses of innovation are all too often violently suppressed by authorities who illegally, unethically and immorally punish these true pioneers of our time -- solely because of powerful vested interests that are far less effective in solving the problems presented.
This is an outrage, and I ask that, if justice has any meaning left, that Greg be released immediately from his current detention and flown back to his residence in Ecuador. This plea represents one of many coming from those of us who strongly feel that justice can only be served by supporting rather than condemning those of us willing and able to move humanity into a new paradigm of healing and sustainability.
If Mr. Caton is not immediately returned, and those who illegally bribed, kidnapped, deported and detained him are not held accountable, then many of us will need to take this issue to its next level for public airing.
- Brian O'Leary, Ph.D., former U.S. astronaut
Why healing is a crime in America
As these events clearly demonstrate, selling products that actually help people heal is a crime in America. There's a wonderful book on the topic, in fact, by author Kenny Ausubel, entitled, When Healing Becomes A Crime (http://www.amazon.com/When-Healing-...)
If you take a chance to read this book, you will discover that the kind of lawless tyranny, oppression and intimidation that has just been demonstrated against Greg Caton is nothing new for U.S. health authorities.
Similarly unscrupulous activities were being undertaken by the AMA in the first half of the 20th century in a desperate attempt to destroy the credibility (and livelihood) of Harry Hoxsey, a man who also manufactured and sold topical anti-cancer salves.
To this day, intimidation campaigns continue against companies selling anti-cancer remedies. It happens so often that one day when I was walking along the sidewalk in Boca Raton, I met a couple who, when they realized who I was, told me they had been forced to flee the United States to pursue their anti-cancer stem cell work in another country.
Mexico, the Bahamas, Central and South America are all full of expat scientists, alternative medicine doctors, herbalists and naturopaths who have been forced to flee the USA or face imprisonment for their "crimes" of treating cancer with things other than FDA-sanctioned chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. This is why Americans have virtually no access to cancer clinics that offer real hope for healing.
Instead, the American population is relegated to suffering the toxic side effects of chemotherapy and radiation under the "guidance" of nutritionally-ignorant oncologists who are poor doctors, but excellent followers of the FDA regime.
What Greg Caton's illegal arrest and deportation really represent is the ongoing war of tyranny against healers that's still pursued by the FDA and its "secret police" Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI).
This OCI, it turns out, operates with no oversight and no respect for the law of any land. Its employees and contractors openly engage in the intimidation of individuals engaged in the selling of natural products, routinely threatening them with imprisonment, armed raids, the seizure of their products and criminal prosecutions. Even Dr. Andrew Weil was recently threatened in this manner by the FDA. (http://www.naturalnews.com/027303_t...)
But NaturalNews asks the question: Who does the OCI answer to?
The answer is no one. There is no Congressional oversight, no judicial oversight and no civil rights protections for individuals targeted by the FDA's OCI. The U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights -- which are supposed to guarantee freedom of speech for herbalists as well as everyone else -- are thrown out the window by the OCI. Once you are targeted by the OCI, you have no rights to free speech.
You are considered an enemy of the state and can find yourself listed on Interpol alongside terrorists and war criminals even though your only crime might be selling herbal creams to natural health consumers.
The FDA claims its OCI office helps protect the American people from unscrupulous quacks and charlatans.
Certainly, there is a role for that function in any society, as many companies will inevitably try to cheat the public by selling health-related products that don't work (Tamiflu comes to mind, incidentally).
But do we really need to be protected from an herbal product that works?
How is Greg Caton's selling of herbal medicine harming anyone at all? His product really works, and if the FDA was interested in what works, you would think they might be interested in embracing herbalists instead of criminalizing them.
Anti-cancer herbs are common knowledge in Ecuador
That all this is going on in the USA is considered quite bizarre to locals in Ecuador, by the way. They are astonished at the idea that the United States of America would take a tax-paying, economy-boosting business person selling medicinal herbs and throw them in prison as criminals where the state must now foot the bill with taxpayer dollars. It
Keep in mind that Greg Caton was operating a perfectly legal business in Ecuador, with all necessary licensing, taxes and regulatory requirements. He was purchasing herbs from farmers, Shamans and land owners, then reformulating those herbs into long-proven anti-cancer remedies that were then sold to customers all over the world. He was breaking no laws in Ecuador, and in fact, he was contributing to the Ecuadorian economy by boosting exports and buying bulk herbs from all over Ecuador. Caton was a huge economic asset to the nation of Ecuador.
But he was a huge liability to the U.S. cancer industry which continues to base its business model on the intimidation and criminalization of anyone who offers cancer solutions outside the realm of pharmaceuticals, radiation and surgery.
The cancer industry's enforcement arm is the Food and Drug Administration, a dubious agency that follows no law (literally, there are no laws limiting the actions of the FDA) and operates with virtually no oversight whatsoever. Essentially, the FDA operates like the mob, respecting no law while using tactics of intimidation to assert its power and authority over others.
The failure of Interpol
Interpol, for its part, is already shrouded in corruption controversy. It's top chief now stands accused of maintaining links to organized crime, accepting bribes, and maintaining a relationship with a convicted smuggler of real drugs (not herbal medicines) -- a man named Glen Agliotti. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8...)
NaturalNews has learned that Interpol is routinely abused by profit-seekers in India, who use India's arcane "dowry laws" to label innocent spouses as international fugitives in order to blackmail them for payoff money. Interpol has openly participated in this blackmail scam for many years, allowing its website to be used as a point of leverage for "dowry scammers" (http://www.merinews.com/article/abu...)
We also found complaints about the abuse of Interpol by corporations in Dubai that are using the flimsy judicial system there to blame foreigners for corporate embezzlement when, in reality, people in Dubai are walking away with the cash. (http://detainedindubai.org/Detained...)
In fact, if you begin to dig into this story, you'll find that Interpol is frequently used by scammers to red-flag innocent victims, so it's not much of a surprise to learn that the FDA rigged Interpol to list Greg Caton as a criminal mastermind in order to have him arrested, kidnapped and illegally deported to the United States.
Certainly, Interpol has some useful function in the world, as the sharing of police intelligence about truly dangerous, violent criminals seems a worthy goal. But when the system is used to destroy the lives of innocent victims who are guilty of no such heinous crimes, it becomes a tool of the destruction of human rights.
Rather than protecting the innocent, in this case Interpol was used by the FDA to persecute the innocent. And that speaks strongly about the lack of credibility at Interpol.
Its "Red Notice" listings apparently carry no more credibility
than a plastic police badge found in a box of Cracker Jack.
About the term "kidnapping"
Some may question my use of the term "kidnapping" to describe the illegal arrest and deportation of Greg Caton from Ecuador. But if you carefully examine the definition of the word, you'll find it applies quite precisely to this situation:
Kidnapping: To abduct by force or fraud.
(Random House Dictionary)
As in, to involuntarily remove someone from their own home or property, with the threat of force (firearms), without the due process of law.
The United States of America, under this definition, is guilty of kidnapping an Ecuadorian resident. In no way did the USA engage in any legal extradition processes, nor did the USA even acknowledge any Ecuadorian law. Greg Caton was simply hauled away without a fair hearing and without any opportunity to defend himself against the charges being leveled against him.
This is not merely a violation of Greg Caton's civil rights,
it is a violation of international law.
Action items: What you can do right now
You have the power to help rights these wrong
and bring the FDA's actions in this matter to light.
As the editor of NaturalNews, I urge you to forward this story to your Senators and Congressional representatives. Someone please also make sure this story gets into the hands of Sen. Charles Grassley.
Protest this action with your elected representatives. In your own words, tell them why you think this kidnapping of Greg Caton is a great injustice that needs to be corrected.
Ask them to investigate the FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations and determine how it is that FDA agents are able to exploit Interpol listings to achieve the illegal kidnapping and deportation of U.S. citizens living abroad.
Why this truth must be told
People will ask me, upon this publication of this story, why I'm willing to speak out against the FDA, the DOJ and Interpol.
Actually, I have nothing against any of these organizations as long as they serve the People rather than the interests of domineering corporations. The FDA, DOJ and Interpol all have an important place in a just society -- but only if they stick to their original charter and use their resources to serve the greater good.
What this story on Natural News reveals is that each of these organizations has, in one way or another, been hijacked by corporate interests in order to suppress the actions of one individual whose products threaten the profits of the pharmaceutical industry.
In essence, Interpol has now been used to enforce the profit aims of Big Pharma, and that's not what Interpol is supposed to be used for. It's supposed to be about protecting the innocent, not allowing itself to be subjugated by Big Business (because, of course, the pharmaceutical industry virtually runs the FDA these days).
When Big Business runs the regulatory offices, the criminal investigation offices and the police organizations, the world is no longer safe for anyone who threatens the status quo. When the police intelligence community is used as law enforcement puppets by the corporate puppet masters, anyone who acts in competition with the established profit centers of corporate America (and cancer is a huge profit center) is immediately targeted for criminalization, prosecution and incarceration.
These are not the traits of a free society.
They are not the actions of a justice system. They aren't even what you would expect to find in a western nation that claims to operate under a free market enterprise system.
And yet this is exactly what we are seeing in the United States of America today, where this nation of regulatory tyrants is now openly engaged in the international kidnapping of innocents who have, for understandable reasons, chosen to reside in countries that do not consider herbalists to be criminals.
Free Greg Caton. "

Who Decides What a Bogus Cancer Cure Is? FTC Investigators Do. - stories of it Being Against the Law to tell the Truth.
Bogus Cures out to Deceive You.. could this be true? No I am not talking about Prescription Drugs and No I am not talking about the Clip on the news a couple of weeks ago that said the Doctor gives a Placebo 50% of the Time (though this is bogus.. it is not what i am talking about) I am Talking about the Claims by the FTC on who is offering you Bogus Cures.
In September of 2008 the LAWS got even scarier, you DO not Own your OWN health. You are NOT allowed to KNOW the Truth about Your Health.
http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/09/boguscures.shtm
Bogus, is a Very Intelligent Word isn’t it. Non-Effective, Cancer Cures that Don’t Really Work, People who Wish to Deliberately Harm and Deceive You, … these are more like words that you would expect FTC Investigators to Use – but Bogus is the Word. So Consumers, Victims of Cancer Doctors is that Bogus? Are Placebos Bogus or are they Hocus Pocus?
Have You Read the Kevin Trudeau Books, he tells stories of How the FTC has harassed him for telling you folks the truth about ways you can cure yourself naturally. They want to Keep the Right to Continue to Radiate You, Cut off your Breasts – Your Body Parts – they want you to Stay in the Dark about your own health
What is “competent and reliable scientific evidence” – the FTC Claims that you must have this in order to talk about cancer cures on your websites. The thing is if you know people who have been cured, read story after story and you know that this stuff works why does the FTC need scientific Evidence? They need it because they control the industry, and that is what your cancer is, it is an industry.
Your Life, you being tortured – cut on – burned – radiated and then to die anyway because of their TOTALLY unproven cures that is what the Industry Stands Behind and the Industry owns the FTC.
I had heard that People Were Scared to Talk about Cures they have used. Scared of What I ask, then I read about the Maker of Essiac Tea – Rene Caise, I ready about Harry Hoxsey and modern Alternative Medicine Writers and Advocates such as Kevin Trudeau who have been Harrassed by the FTC when all they are doing is trying to bring you a gentle natural cure that has been around as long as man. The FTC does not want you to know the TRUTH .. why.. is your body being tortured by Cancer Doctors really what the FTC wants? They Say America is a Free Country? What? You are not even allowed to know the truth about your health so Billionaires can Stay Billionaires.
Though Cancer Doctors Flat Out Lie to You,
the FTC Does NOT want you to know the Truth, they go to Great Lengths
They accuse me of Deceptive Advertising Claims but won’t tell me what site they are talking about. I am left to assume that me telling you folks of Cancer Cures – Cures that Do Not involve a Cancer Doctor is Illegal. Please Read the Kevin Trudeau Books. Please Share the Following Links, and information with everyone you know. Those who say they are watching out for your health are not.
Those who wish to help you get well are CONSTANTLY harassed, those performing dendritic cell therapy and other cancer cures are NOT allowed to help you. Though once Big Pharma Figures out how to control dendritic cell therapy you will be offered a version of it for a HUGE price increase from what folks offer it currently for.

FTC Sweep Stops Peddlers of Bogus Cancer Cures
Public Education Campaign Counsels Consumers, “Talk to Your Doctor”
The Federal Trade Commission today announced 11 law enforcement actions challenging deceptive advertising of bogus cancer cures. The FTC charged the companies with making unsupported claims that their products cured or treated one or more types of cancer. In each case, the company is charged with violating the FTC Act, which bars deceptive claims. Some complaints allege that the companies also falsely touted clinical or scientific proof for their products.
“There is no credible scientific evidence that any of the products marketed by these companies can prevent, cure, or treat cancer of any kind,” said Lydia Parnes, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
Of the 11 complaints the FTC announced today, six have been resolved by proposed settlements; the rest will be litigated. In all cases, the companies will be required to notify consumers who purchased the products challenged in the complaints that there was little or no scientific evidence demonstrating the products’ effectiveness for treating or curing cancer. They also must urge these customers to consult with their doctors about the products. In addition, the companies will be prohibited from selling or disclosing their consumer lists to others. The products the companies marketed include essiac teas and other herbal mixtures, laetrile, black salve (a corrosive ointment), and mushroom extracts.
“Many of these products are scams,” Parnes said, “and let’s face it, when you’re battling cancer, the last thing you need is a scam. The best idea is to talk to your doctor about any treatment that you are thinking about taking.” The FTC also announced a new Web site about bogus cancer cures. The site – www.ftc.gov/curious – tells consumers how to spot and report bogus claims they see online, and urges people with cancer to talk to their treatment team about any products they’d like to try. The site features a video and includes a list of resources on cancer treatments from a variety of agencies within the federal government.
The FDA sent warning letters to 23 U.S. companies and two foreign individuals. The warning letters stated that because the marketed products claimed to cure, treat, mitigate, or prevent cancer, and because they are not proven to be safe and effective for their labeled use, they are unapproved new drugs marketed in violation of the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The Competition Bureau sent warning letters to Canadian companies that were selling fraudulent cancer cures online. Almost all the companies have adequately corrected their marketing materials, and the bureau will take additional enforcement actions to ensure compliance by the rest. Administrative Cases. The FTC sued five companies. The cases will be tried before an administrative law judge at the Commission. In each case, the Commission seeks an order prohibiting the respondents from representing that their products prevent, treat, or cure any type of cancer unless the representation is true, non-misleading, and supported by competent and reliable scientific evidence. The FTC also will seek orders prohibiting the respondents from making representations about any health-related products without competent and reliable scientific evidence.
Alexander Heckman d/b/a Omega Supply – Among the products this company marketed are laetrile, which can cause cyanide poisoning when taken orally at high doses; hydrazine sulphate, which is classified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a potential carcinogen; and cloracesium, which contains celsium chloride. According to the complaint, in addition to making deceptive and false claims that these products are safe and that they effectively prevent, treat, and cure cancer, the respondents also made false claims that the products are scientifically proven to work.
Native Essence Herb Company – The products marketed by this company include herbal concoctions (Rene Caisse essiac tea blend and cat’s claw), the herb chaparral, and maitake mushrooms extracts. In 1992, the FDA classified chaparral as unsafe because of its “association with acute toxic hepatitis.” According to the complaint, the respondents made deceptive and false claims that these products are effective for treating and curing a variety of cancers, eliminating or shrinking tumors, and for preventing breast cancer.
Daniel Chapter One – This company markets several herbal formulations as well as shark cartilage. According to the complaint, in addition to making deceptive and false claims that these products effectively prevent, treat, and cure cancer, the respondents also claim that one of their herbal formulations mitigates the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. In addition to the FTC action announced today, this company received a warning letter from FDA. Gemtronics, Inc. – This company markets a product called RAAX11, which is made of chrysobalanus icaco, a derivative from a tropical bush, and agaricus, a medicinal mushroom. According to the complaint, in addition to making deceptive and false claims that these products effectively prevent, treat, and cure cancer, the respondents also made false claims that these products were scientifically proven to work. In addition to the FTC action announced today, this company received a warning letter from FDA.
Mary T. Spohn d/b/a Herbs for Cancer – Spohn sold Chinese herbal teas in varying formulations. According to the company’s advertisements, these teas were formulated to fight 16 different types of cancer. A seventeenth type [of blended tea] is represented as a “special formula” for “cancers not on our list.” According to the complaint, in addition to making deceptive and false claims that these formulations effectively treat and cure cancer, the respondents also claim that some of them are scientifically proven to work. In addition to the FTC action announced today, this company received a warning letter from FDA.
Three of the proposed settlements will be filed in federal district court:
Nu-Gen Nutrition, Inc. – The defendants marketed cantron, an electrolyte liquid, and apricot seeds containing laetrile as treatments and cures for various types of cancer. Based on the amount of sales of these products, the company and its principal have agreed to pay a judgment of $830,434, all but $246,000 of which is suspended based on the defendants’ inability to pay. If it is determined that the financial information given to the FTC was untruthful, then the full amount of the judgement will become automatically due. This case was filed today in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.
The FTC has issued administrative complaints for the remaining proposed settlement cases, which involved smaller sales volumes than the federal district court settlements.
Bioque Technologies, Inc. – The respondents marketed an extract from the soursop or guanabana tropical fruit tree and claimed in their advertisements that it could prevent and treat melanoma. They also represented that the product, called Serum GV, was clinically proven to do these things. Under the proposed agreement, the respondents are required to pay the full amount of Serum GV sales, $9,035.85, in consumer redress.
Holly A. Bacon d/b/a Cleansing Time Pro – The respondent marketed a corrosive product called black salve, in both ointment and tablet form. Black salve has been reported to cause severe burns and permanent scarring at high concentrations. Claiming in advertisements that either formulation could prevent, treat, and cure various types of cancer, individual respondent Holly A. Bacon represented herself as a satisfied user of the product without disclosing that she was the owner of the company. She also represented that black salve was effective at preventing, treating, and curing numerous viral infections, including HIV, SARS, and Avian Flu.
Premium-essiac-tea-4less – The respondent marketed an herbal remedy known as essiac tea. According to the complaint, the respondents’ advertisements recommended “a daily intake based on whether the consumer is well, sick with cancer or another disease, trying to prevent a relapse of cancer or another disease, or currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.” The FTC complaint challenged the respondent’s claim that its essiac tea product was an effective treatment for cancer, AIDS, ulcers, hepatitis C; and many other diseases.
The Commission vote authorizing the issuance or filing of the 11 complaints and agreed-upon final orders was 4-0. The three federal district court proposed settlements were filed on September 18, 2008.
NOTE: The Commission files a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. The complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendant or respondent has actually violated the law. The stipulated final order is for settlement purposes only and does not constitute an admission by the defendants of a law violation. A stipulated final order requires approval by the court and has the force of law when signed by the judge.
The administrative consent orders will be subject to public comment for 30 days, beginning today and continuing through October 17, 2008, after which the Commission will consider whether to make them final. Comments should be sent to: FTC Office of the Secretary, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20580.

Cases after Cases of the FTC going after these people, WHY? To me, it does not seem like the FTC goes after the Cancer Doctors who Lie, they don’t seem to punish those who make drugs that inevitable get some sort of class action lawsuit because the drug was set out to the public with
And what about those Stories, myths of course, of Doctors who get kickback from big drug companies for Pushing their drugs, or Drug adds telling you to ask your doctor, as if you 4 years old and the drug is “Sweet Cereal” and they want you to get your parents to buy it for you. Commercials Pushing Drugs, where is the FTC on this. People on 12 to 20 different prescriptions, where is the FTC on this?
But if you Claim Goji is a Cure for Cancer ( Which of Course GOJI has NOTHING all to do with any kind of cancer cure) then you are persecuted by those who say they are protecting you. It is a Flat Out Lie, in my Opinion. I have read – over 20 years – endless amounts of information on cancer cures… so many liars out there.. hmmm Guess I will IGNORE them all and believe the one agency that is really out to protect me, the FTC.
It is Claimed to Be in the Best Interest of Consumer Protection. To me it seems like those honestly trying to sell you a product that will help you are Punished for it.
The FTC seems to want you to make your money by selling Big Pharm drugs, such as become a Doctor or Pharmicist and Give out Drugs for a Living. Sure beats selling herbs and telling the truth about what they are good for.
My Opinion, as a NON Doctor ( Thank Goodness ) is that is Someone that the FTC thinks they want to Protect you From is Quite Possibly someone you should take a real hard look at because they may have something that threatens, somehow the business of the FTC – the Big Drug Companies. No One Wants you to Know that you Can Cure your Cancer. Millions have since the beginning of time. I mean, the Indians had cancer, historical data says they cured it with Black Salve, Cancer Salves made from a Natural Root, but if you make that salve and make that claim then the FTC will Get Ya... You Are Not In Charge of your Own Health Decisions. the Law will Tell you What Cures Cancer and Scientific Proof is
not really proof - to me - in my personal and unprofessional opinion Scientific Proof is
someones version of reality and Proof to Sell YOU a Drug and to keep you down.
Some Information and Scientific Reports talk about Cesium, for example being able to know out, to cure your cancer, but your not allowed to say that .. you don’t want the Truth to Get Out. If you can Really Cure Cancer for under a $100 then where would those billions dollars have to come from to keep the big drug companies and the FTC in Business. 2 mammograms and a biopsy cost $10,000 and there are REPORTS that say that mammograms cause cancer.. Reports that say that Biopsies spread cancer, but you THOSE living with cancer and looking for Gentle – Effective – Reasonable Answers are NOT allowed to know the Truth.
The Following from DrDay.com
"FDA and FTC are CONTROLLED by the DRUG Companies
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), ABANDON the American People, and instead, PROTECT the DRUG Companies! "
On August 28, 2007 I received an unsigned, anonymous, form letter from the FTC threatening to fine me $11,000.00 (per violation) if I did not remove from by website some perceived (by them), but completely unspecified, apparent violations of some FDA laws. The FTC refused to tell me what the violations might be. Instead, they forwarded the laws to me by e-mail, suggesting that I figure it out for myself.
It took quite a bit of time to figure out what was really going on.
Here is what they apparently are objecting to.
The FDA and FTC state that it is LEGAL for DRUG Companies to advertise known harmful DRUGS, drugs that have been documented to kill and maim patients, as “SAFE and EFFECTIVE” for the prevention and treatment of disease.
But the FDA – and the other puppets for the Pharmaceutical Industry - your Senators and Congressmen - have now made it ILLEGAL for anyone to sell natural, wholesome FOOD, if one claims eating GOOD FOOD can help in the prevention and treatment of disease.
The FDA and FTC say that we are “allowed” to say that good food can “promote” or “maintain” health, but we are NOT allowed to say that good food can “prevent disease.” That last statement has now been declared ILLEGAL – it is “against the law.”
Yet Webster’s dictionary DEFINES “Health” as the “Freedom from Disease.” So if a food “helps maintain HEALTH”, by definition – it helps PREVENT disease. THAT is truth!
But the FDA and FTC now say that such a claim is against the law. They have declared it against the law to TELL TRUTH!
Obviously, the goal of both the FDA and the FTC is to PROTECT the obscene profits of the Pharmaceutical companies, at the expense of the health of all Americans.

RE: Health Claims on Your Website for Cancer Cures and Treatment Products
DATE: August 28, 2007
Deceptive Advertising Claims are Illegal
The staff of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently reviewed your website. We are sending you this letter to remind you of your obligations under the law. The FTC protects consumers from unfair or deceptive advertising or marketing practices that raise health or safety concerns.
The FTC Act prohibits deceptive advertising in any medium, including the Internet. Under the FTC Act, advertising claims for products and services must be truthful and not misleading. Health-related claims, like those made about cancer on your website, must be supported by competent and reliable scientific evidence – the kind of evidence scientists who are experts in the field would rely on. It is against the law to make health claims without scientific support, to exaggerate the benefits of products or services, or to misstate the level of scientific support you have for your claims. Please note that consumer testimonials are not proof that your product works. If you make a health claim through a consumer testimonial, you must have competent and reliable scientific evidence that your product will have the same benefit for other users.
If your website makes express claims (literally made in the ad) or claims by implication (made indirectly or by inference) about the benefits of any cancer-related products or services that are not substantiated by competent and reliable scientific evidence, or are otherwise deceptive or fraudulent, you must stop making those claims immediately.

That could mean:
1. A federal court injunction. Violations of court orders could result in civil penalties or criminal prosecution.
2. An order to pay consumer refunds.
3. Administrative orders with fines up to $11,000 per violation.
We urge you to review all cancer-related claims on your website. If you don’t have competent and reliable scientific evidence to support the claims, please change them immediately or remove them altogether.
FTC investigators have saved your website and will be revisiting it soon. Within 10 business days, please send an email to cancer@ftc.gov < href="mailto:cureall@ftc.gov">cureall@ftc.gov > describing the actions you’ve taken or plan to take to address these concerns.
To ensure that your website complies with the FTC Act, we suggest reviewing the following guidance from the FTC:
1. Dietary Supplements: An Advertising Guide for Industry www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/dietsupp.htm
2. Frequently Asked Advertising Questions: A Guide for Small Business www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/ad-faqs.htm
3. Advertising and Marketing on the Internet: The Rules of the Road at www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/ruleroad.htm
Please remember that you are responsible for complying with laws enforced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in addition to laws enforced by the FTC. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) defines a drug, in part, as an article intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of a disease, or to affect the structure or any function of the body.
1 Drugs that are not generally recognized by qualified, scientific experts as safe and effective for the uses recommended or suggested in their labeling are considered to be new drugs.
2 It is illegal to market a new drug in the U.S. without obtaining prior FDA approval.3 Violations of the FDCA may result in seizure of illegal products and an injunction against the manufacturers and distributors. We have contacted the FDA about claims on your website. Remember, too, that unfair or deceptive acts or practices also are illegal under many state laws. The standards under those laws may be different from the FTC Act.
If you are not located in the United States, we have referred the claims on your website to the consumer protection enforcement agency that has jurisdiction in your locale.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Your e-mail to me of August 28, 2007
Date: September 10, 2007
I am responding to your e-mail of August 28, 2007.
In the “Re: line of your letter to me you refer to “Health Claims on Your Website for Cancer Cures and Treatments Products.” This is completely inaccurate and a perversion of the truth. I make NO claims, nor do I even imply, that the whole foods sold on my website “Cure Cancer” and I am incensed that you would suggest such a thing.
It is absolutely TRUE that the better one eats and lives – the healthier he will be and the less disease he will have. That is not only well documented in the medical literature, it is common sense - something that is woefully lacking in the medical/industrial/governmental complex today.
Your e-mail is obviously a form letter, unsigned, faceless and nameless, without even the courtesy or courage of a human signature. And your e-mail contained no indication of what, on my website, you perceive as a problem. You’re really suggesting that it is up to me to figure out what you are thinking.
However, near the end of your letter you make passing mention of the FDA so I am assuming that you are the “Hit Squad” Enforcers for the FDA - against anyone who has the audacity to tell truth - against anyone who has the audacity to promote GOOD FOOD (and the other things that promote a healthy, disease-free body, including exercise, fresh air, pure water, sunlight, restful sleep, handling stress, etc.) rather than Dangerous DRUGS to “maintain health.”
I have just become aware that the FDA has extended it’s “long arm of the law” to include the advertising of healthy FOOD in its jurisdiction, apparently in an attempt to make sure NO American will be allowed to know that “Good Food is Good For You.”
George Orwell’s “1984” Newspeak has truly arrived!
The FDA has agreed that Pharmaceutical companies, the real masters of the FDA, can spend billions of dollars advertising the Lie that “DRUGS will prevent disease,” but the FDA, with the complicity of the FTC, has now made it illegal to say that healthy food will help prevent disease.
Truth has become illegal!
What a sad day for America. We are rapidly tumbling back into the Dark Ages!
When a governmental agency restricts the public’s access to information about the ability of healthy eating to help prevent disease, that agency is PROMOTING disease with all its misery – and, of course, the “need” for MORE DRUGS – which apparently is exactly what the government and the Pharmaceutical companies want.
Drugs DO NOT prevent – OR cure - disease, no matter how much the FDA deludes itself into thinking so. Drugs CAUSE disease! Just look at the overwhelming evidence of the thousands of harmful, disease-producing, side effects of the drugs listed in the PDR (Physician’s Desk Reference). That’s why the doctors must add drug after drug to a patient’s regimen - to cover up the side effects caused by the previous drugs already prescribed. And that’s what the Pharmaceutical companies love – more drugs – and more obscene profits.
With adverse reactions from Doctor-prescribed Pharmaceutical Drugs being the FOURTH LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH in America, and with the eating habits of Americans being some of the worst in the world, if the FDA were truly interested in “Consumer Protection” it would want to protect the health of the people by promoting the well-documented medical evidence linking a healthy diet with the Prevention AND Reversal of disease.
But instead, the FDA has chosen to suppress this information on health and life and instead chooses to promote Drugs, Disease, and Death.
What is the result of this drug orgy? MORE disease! The FDA was originally set up to police and control these Pharmaceutical companies, but instead, the FDA has become putty in their hands and the Pharmaceutical companies now control the FDA. How shameful that is.
Drugs, such as those for high blood pressure, diabetes, supposed autoimmune diseases, Parkinson’s, ALS, and virtually all other drugs, never cure ANY disease, they only cover up the symptoms of the disease while the disease itself continues to progress. That is why we doctors are taught in our medical training to tell patients that they will have to be on the drugs for the rest of their life – precisely BECAUSE drugs DON’T cure the disease. Yet the FDA condones the promotion of DRUGS, with their numerous and often life-threatening side effects.
According to the FDA, promoting harmful DRUGS to prevent and treat disease is commendable, but promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle for the same purpose is illegal! That’s a dictum straight from hell!
If healthy food helps “maintain” health, the only way it can do that is by preventing disease!
Health – by definition – means freedom from disease! Check it out in Webster’s New World Dictionary. So if food maintains health, it MUST – by definition - prevent disease! But the FDA has now made this kind of rational thinking illegal.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the only place the body has to get the raw materials to make new cells is by what a person puts in his mouth. If one puts highly nutritious, natural, wholesome food in his mouth, drinks plenty of pure water, and lives a healthy lifestyle, the body can make healthy cells and the function of the immune system is improved so it (the immune system) can do its job to maintain health – and by definition - prevent disease, a truth that the FDA wants to deny and destroy.
But if a person eats junk food, processed food, and a diet full of animal products with little or no fruits, grains, and vegetables, and doesn’t follow a healthy lifestyle, EVERYONE in medicine knows that person WILL get sick, sooner or later. Why is the FDA trying to bury that truth? Why is the FDA attempting to impose Talmudic control over every detail of everyone’s life?
The answer is simple – it is to satisfy the voracious greed of the Pharmaceutical companies who control them – it is NOT to protect the health of the public.
If eating a rotten diet of junk food and processed food that is low in nutrients helps cause disease, a fact that EVERY doctor will admit, then WHY is it forbidden to say that eating a diet of healthy food will help prevent disease?
Has everyone gone mad? Can no one think rationally anymore? Do the Pharmaceutical companies control everyone?
There are no unfair or deceptive claims on my website. And just for the record, I do not now, nor have I ever, said – or even implied - that Beta Beet or any of the other foods advertised on my website cure cancer or any other disease. EVERYTHING on my website is the TRUTH and is supported by documentation from the finest peer-reviewed medical journals.
But the FDA has now made it ILLEGAL TO TELL THE TRUTH!
To satisfy the shameless perversity of the FDA, I am removing the portion of the sentence on the BetaBeet page on my website that refers to decreasing one’s risk of arteriosclerosis by lowering levels of the amino acid homocysteine by the nutrients that happen to be in beets – and many other wholesome foods. That truthful and well-documented statement has been on my website for several years. And it has not only been TRUTHFUL, but it has been LEGAL.
But now, with one fell swoop, the FDA has passed a law making that TRUTH illegal.
But that statement is still TRUE, even though the FDA demands, by their draconian, Unconstitutional Talmudic law, that I remove that truth.
The nutrients in Beets, indeed, DO lower homocysteine levels and thereby DO decrease the risk of arteriosclerosis (see the evidence below), as is documented by numerous medical journal articles, even though the FDA has now criminalized this truth.
The saddest part is that those at ALL levels in the FDA and FTC, and their annoying gadfly, Stephen Barrett, who participate in the ruthless crushing of truthful information on natural healing, will themselves, fall into such darkness that when they or their family become ill, they will not be able to understand how to get well and will have no where to turn but to the horribly painful, and totally useless, exploits of the drug or scalpel doctors who know nothing about true healing.
My only comment is that author Ayn Rand had it right. Here are a few of her quotes:
“The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.”
“A government is the most dangerous threat to man's rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.”
“Government ‘help’ to business is just as disastrous as government persecution... the only way a government can be of service to national prosperity is by keeping its hands off.”
“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.”
Included with this e-mail is the documentation from the finest medical journals (just click on the links below) for everything I have previously had on the BetaBeet section of my website, a phrase of which has now been removed because of its unconstitutional “criminalization” by the FDA.
When a government passes laws to suppress truth, the citizens, including those who help enforce those laws, become slaves!
Yours truly,
Lorraine Day, M.D."
