Ultraviolet Blood (UVB) Therapy

Ultraviolet Blood (UVB) Therapy is also known as Photo-oxidation, Photoluminescence, and Extracorporeal Photophoresis. Treatment consists of withdrawing blood from a patient that is then passed through tubing where it is exposed briefly to an ultraviolet light.

The treated blood is then directly returned to the patient's bloodstream. Ultraviolet irradiation of the blood produces the following benefical chemical reactions:

Improved micro circulation and oxygenation of tissues

Anti-inflammatory effects.

Stimulation of the immune system.

Increased tolerance of the body towards radiation or chemotherapy.

Cardiovascular protection through increased metabolism of cholesterol, uric acid, and glucose.

Resolution of vascular spasms.

Powerful anti-infection properties.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone is a highly reactive therapeutic agent. When administered properly, it can initiate a series of biological reactions in the body. These reactions are the basis for the administration of ozone therapy in a medical facility. It is well known that all chronically ill patients produce insufficient amounts of energy. All the cells of the body have been shown to increase their energy production (ATP) by as much as 40 percent after exposure to ozone.

European physicians and researchers have been studying the effects of ozone for 20 years. Dr. V. Bocci, professor of physiology at the University of Siena, has discovered that ozone can increase the production of cytokines in the body. Cytokines are important components in regulating the immune system.Ozone is also an important antimicrobial agent. Ozone has been used since World War I for its antibiotic properties. Today, many cities such as Los Angeles use ozone for their water purification. The removal of toxins in nature is done through ozone production.

The fresh scent one smells after a thunderstorm is due to high amounts of ozone production. Without proper toxin removal in the human body, cells will degenerate and die. Through its oxidizing power, ozone helps the body remove cells damaged by viruses or cancer. Otto Warburg, who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his cancer research, states "Cancer has only one prime cause.

It is the replacement of normal oxygen respiration by an anaerobic (i.e. oxygen-deficient) cell respiration."Many illnesses such as cancer, autoimmune disorders such as lupus or MS, and fibromyalgia have one thing in common: low levels of oxygen. Ozone provides the body the necessary oxygen required to treat these illnesses. Treating Cancer with Ozone Cells damaged by cancer have an outer shell that is different from healthy cells.

Through a complex chemical reaction, ozone can penetrate these cells and through an oxidation process will destroy these cells. Normal cells have a different protective layer and are therefore unaffected by this mechanism.Arthritis and Pain ManagementOzone has dramatic effects on reducing pain through a process called prolotherapy. A small amount of ozone gas is injected to the area in pain. The gas results in a slight inflammation which subsequently causes a dramatic increase in blood supply to the affected area. Through this process, more nutrients, collagen, and fiber blasts are driven to the area of pain which will result in regeneration of new healthy tissue.

"Prolo" is a Latin name for regeneration and rebuilding and the technique has been in use since the time of Hippocrates. Conditions such as degenerated joints, herniated discs, unresolved whiplash, torn tendons and ligaments can be greatly helped by this procedure. Since ozone is a gas, it can readily diffuse to the surrounding tissue and initiate a healing response to a wide area. Following the inital injection, the patient may experience a slight amount of soreness.

This is due to the desired inflammation which will ultimately result in correcting the damaged tissue. The number of treatments required depends on the severity of the problem. Some patients may require as many as 10 injections to see results, while others can notice improvement after the first injection.

Chronic Infections
There has been a dramatic increase in illnesses that are directly or indirectly related to viral infections. Hepatitis, Epstein-Barr infection, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and autoimmune disorders can be treated very effectively using ozone therapy.

As an antimicrobial agent as well as immune system modulator, ozone delivers a therapeutic benefit unmatched by any other therapy. Unlike antibiotics, ozone will not damage normal cells which make the therapy superior and without side effects.ApplicationsOzone can be administered in many different ways depending on the condition. Small amounts can be injected in joints and connective tissue to help with arthritis and pain.

Ear insufflations can be used for chronic sinusitis. Injections into the bloodstream are administered for more chronic illnesses, through a mechanism known as Major Autohemo Therapy. The most convenient and effective procedure involves using a hyperthermic chamber. Ozone can penetrate through the skin and enter the lymphatic system. The sauna has an additional benefit of detoxifying the body from toxins and metabolic waste.

The number of treatments required depends on the condition. For chronic infections or cancer, the minimum number of treatments is 20.Consult with Dr. Shahab Samieian, N.D. regarding the number of treatments required for your specific condition by calling 406-723-6609.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy helps reverse the physical and mental effects of oxygen deprivation. It increases oxygen levels in the body to help neutralize damaging free radicals, eliminate toxins and renew healthy cellular function.Treatments provide a safe, highly effective method for the recovery of this essential "nutrient" to all body systems. The effects are cumulative.

The body begins to work more efficiently as it restores its oxygen balance closer to the higher natural range it was originally designed to function with. What Does it Do? The hyperbaric oxygen chamber increases the uptake of oxygen in the body. The comfortable high-pressured atmosphere in the chamber causes a super saturation of oxygen in the blood plasma and tissue fluids. The body utilizes oxygen better, functions more efficiently, promotes healing and improves health and fitness.

How Does It Work? The special medical compressor pumps ambient air through a high efficiency air filter (which purifies the air down to 0.01 microns) into the chamber and pressurizes to the constant level of 3 to 4 pounds per square inch. Special valves assure constant air exchange and prevent buildup of carbon monoxide inside the chamber.

What is the Recommended Treatment? Treatment of 45 to 60 minutes duration, three times a week, for 4 to 6 weeks is recommended. Future treatments would be as required to maintain health and fitness. Every person is different, and the specific reason for treatment will dictate the frequency. Is It Safe and Easy to Use? The chamber is completely safe since it does not add any 100 percent oxygen. It can be used regularly without danger of oxygen toxicity in the body. There is no risk of the negative effects that can be experienced from the elimination of ions and valuable gases such as nitrogen as with regular treatments in 100 percent pure oxygen chambers.

There are no usage hazards as exist with the pure oxygen chambers. It is very simple to use. No special training or maintenance is required. You can deflate and unzip the chamber from the inside at any time. However, sessions where the chamber is in use are supervised. For a free consultation or to receive more information about the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, call Dr. Shahab Samieian, N.D. at 406-723-6609.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy uses low-intensity or low levels of laser light to reduce pain and inflammation for a variety of injuries and illnesses. The biological effects of how Cold Low Level Laser Therapy has been shown to significantly accelerate and enhance the body’s natural defense and repair abilities when injured. By reducing the duration of inflammation as well as enhancing specific repair and healing process, Low Level Laser Therapy has been proven to provide pain relief, reduce damage due to the injury and loss of function. Low Level Laser Therapy enables the body to have a more rapid repair and stronger tissues once healed. This results in accelerated healing and dramatic decrease in pain and inflammation.
Unlike all other treatment modalities, laser therapy actually "heals" tissue as well as providing a powerful non-addictive form of pain management.Lasers are used directly on or over the affected area. Cold lasers are also sometimes used for acupuncture, with laser beams to stimulate the body's acupoints rather than needles. This treatment regimen appeals to those who want acupuncture but who fear the pain of needles.

What is a low-level laser?
LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Light created in this way, is then culminated and directed into an intense beam of light through the use of cathode and anode reflecting components in order to produce a single stable frequency. Unlike high power lasers that use heat and destroy tissue, low energy lasers affect the cellular energy of the underlying tissue. Hot lasers have a thermal effect and have an output of 1MW or above. Cold (or) Low Level Lasers do not have a thermal effect on tissue, lasers that stimulate biological function have an output below 10mw- milliwatts (ten- one thousands of a watt).

What is Cold Laser Therapy and how does it work?

Cold Laser Therapy refers to the modality of applying a "low" energy or "low level" laser to tissue that stimulates cellular processes and thereby enhancing biochemical reactions. Photonic energy is absorbed by the photo acceptor sites on the cell membrane which trigger a secondary messenger to initiate a cascade of intracellular signals that initiate, inhibit or accelerate biological processes such as wound healing, inflammation, or pain management.

Are there any side effects?
There are no negative side effects. Low Level Lasers are safe, non-toxic and non-invasive; there has not been a recorded side effect in over 1700 publications. There are some necessary common sense precautions that need to be considered, such as avoiding pointing the laser beam directly into the eye and maintaining it there, which could prove to be damaging to the eye.

How long are the treatments?

Treatments can vary in time from seconds to minutes depending on the condition. Research studies show that there may be a dose dependent response, so it may be more effective to treat at lower doses at multiple intervals then to treat a single time with a high dose.
How long does the treatment last?

A treatment plan may vary, depending on the condition. For instance, an acute soft tissue injury or open wound may require multiple short treatments initially then the interval between treatments will lengthen as the condition improves.

What conditions can be treated?

Cold Laser Therapy has been used with excellent results to treat inflammatory conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Epicondylitis, Plantar Fascitis, and Bursitis. Pain management for Fibric Myalgia Myofscial pain, cervical neck pain, thoracic pain, and low back pain. Connective tissue disorders such as sprains, strains, tendonitis, and tendon ruptures. Joint injuries or disorders such as TMJ disorders, osteoarthritis, dislocations, and ligament injuries. Muscle injury or disorders such as muscle bruises, contusions, muscle ruptures, and muscle shortening contractures like frozen shoulders.

Neurological injury or disorders such as prolapsed disc, ruptured or herniated discs, crush injuries, neuritis, and headaches. Spinal Decompression with Cold laser therapy and whole body vibration is an effective treatment for herniated discs.

Many acute and chronic conditions can be improved or eliminated with laser use. For a free consultation or to receive more information about cold laser therapy, call Dr. Shahab Samieian, N.D. at 406-723-6609.
